Which palm do we read?
There seems to be several different interpretations of which palm to read.
Some say that you read your left palm if you’re female, right palm if you’re male.
Some say the opposite: read your left palm if you’re male, right palm if you’re female
Some say that you should read both palms: the left palm indicates your potential, the right palm indicates what is currently happening
Some say the opposite: that you read your left palm to indicate what is currently happening and your right palm indicates your potential.
Secondly, what do cracks in the life line mean?

The Right palm.

the male/female thing is asian.
in western palmistry,
you use the right palm for readings if you’re right handed.
you use the left if you’re left handed.
active hand(the one used for writing) : what’s happening in your life.
passive hand : your potential & past.
it’s scientifically proven. your palms can tell you what kind of a person you are & give you insights into your health & not your future. they indicate how your life has been till now.
a lifeline which doesn’t run smoothly. cracks mean struggles & losses.

Hello Ann O,
You’ve asked a ‘classic’ question!
But the answer might even depend on what culture you’re from:
– The traditional Indian approach says: read the right hand for a man, left for a woman;
– The traditional Chinese approach says: read the left hand for a man, right for a woman.
(And often both traditions reverse it in left-handedness.)
But the modern western approach says: always read both hands!
And I could add (one step further) … focuss on the aspects that are present in both hands!!
(I could add much more – see my website below – but your question is not much further specified)
Greetings from The Netherlands!!
PS. Regarding the ‘crack’ in your life line – there are some ‘notorious’ theories described in palmistry books about that characteristic. But the truth is that these theories may not be that reliable at all – see for example the article in the source below, which is about the LENGTH of the life line but the issue of ‘interruptions’ is also mentioned – see section 3!

do you believe in palm reading?
